“I am responsible. When anyone, anywhere, reaches out for help, I want the hand of AA always to be there. And for that: I am responsible.”
The Volunteers Committee is responsible for coordinating A.A. Member Volunteers to accomplish the 12th Step Work of NYIG. Volunteers are needed to answer phones, make Twelve Step calls, stuff envelopes, file folders, enter data into Excel sheets, review archival materials, log-in information and help keep the website updated just to name a few things.
At NYIG there are service opportunities for A.A. members with a few days sober to a many decades. Find out what your Home Group’s service commitments are at NYIG and get involved, or, if you would like to independently lend some of your time and energy to help support these efforts and give back to NYIG, please become an A.A. member volunteer at NYIG by filling the form below, visiting the Get Involved page, or complete and email an A.A. Member Volunteer Signup Form to firstname.lastname@example.org or mail it to the N.Y. Inter-Group office.
A.A. Member Volunteers assure the phones at New York Inter-Group are answered daily from 9:00 AM to 2:00 AM. Phone volunteers provide meeting information in the greater New York area and Westchester as well as contact information for other Inter-Group and Central Offices. A Phone Volunteer is also responsible for manning the Hospital Information Desk from which NYIG provides alcoholics calling for help with information regarding hospital detox treatment.
From 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M. Phone Volunteers take calls at the NYIG office. From 10:00 P.M. to 2:00 A.M. Phone Volunteers answer NYIG’s calls from their homes by Call-Forwarding. If coming to the NYIG office is not possible, consider becoming a Call-Forwarding Volunteer. A.A. members with at least one year of continuous sobriety are invited to serve on the telephones at the New York Inter-Group office.Volunteer Form
